Mental Health and Writing
Helen is a regular contributor to the opinion column of Aberdeen’s Press & Journal where she writes about mental health, a subject close to her heart. Although her background is in clinical medicine and research science, she turned to writing after her own difficulties with poor mental health. At her worst, she was detained in a psychiatric hospital sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Her memoir about this time, love lay down beside me and we wept, is available to support at unbound.com.
